TIFCA is a non-profit network of technology, media, and standards organization thought leaders that share common interests.  Our mission is to develop frameworks and initiatives that enable technology adoption.

Professor Prasolova-Førland Talks Education at Immersed 2018

Ekaterina Prasolova-Førland, Professor Department of Education and Lifelong Learning Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)

One of the core themes of Immersed 2018 is the use of future computing in education.  Ekaterina Prasolova-Førland is Professor at the Department of Education and Lifelong Learning Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

Her multiple credits include work with the Norwegian Armed Forces, the Innovative Immersive Technologies for Learning (IMTEL) research group and VR lab, the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration, and more.  She is very passionate about educational applications of immersive technologies in medicine, sports, therapy, career guidance, collaborative work, emergency management and other areas. Future computing is far deeper than the potential of processing power, immersive technology, and innovative content and applications. There is also a very human component which is needed for the grandest visions to become reality.

Pascal Langlois is Assistant Director for Procedural Motion Capture at Ubisoft, Toronto. An ex-dancer and RADA trained Graduate, Pascal has over 20 years experience as an actor and performer in all media. The culmination of his work is the realization of a strong bond between technology and acting in the motion capture world. He has worked for companies including the Royal National Theatre, Warner, BBC, Talkback, Kudos, Quantic Dream, CBC, Ubisoft Toronto and Montreal, Dynamixyz, Quantum Capture, Space and SyFy, and numerous other Canadian TV productions. Microsoft Canada Speaking at Immersed 2018

As exciting as the world of future computing is, it’s even more exciting if everyone has an equal opportunity to be part of it.

TIFCA is very proud to welcome Ricardo Wagner, Marketing & Operations Product Lead at Microsoft Canada, to the Immersed 2018 speakers list.  Among other things, Mr. Wagner leads Microsoft Canada’s Diversity & Inclusion initiatives for people with disabilities.  Covering both internal and external efforts, his work addresses both the hardware and software components needed to enable everyone in day to day computing and future computing lifestyles that are easily taken for granted.  Some of the Microsoft products featured in Mr. Wagners’ work include the Windows 10 operating system, Microsoft Office, XBOX, and more.

Outside of Microsoft, Mr. Wagner is working to support education in Africa and Latin America by co-leading a program called Myskills4Afrika.

Mr. Wagner will be part of the healthcare program at Immersed 2018 and will be our expert on making sure future computing benefits the widest diversity of people possible.

Celebrating its fifth anniversary, the Immersed conference takes place November 8-9, 2018 at the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto, Canada.  Get registered ASAP as space is limited!

The Globe and Mail’s Josh O’Kane Speaking at Immersed

TIFCA is very proud to announce that Josh O’Kane, award-winning reporter for the Globe and Mail‘s Report on Business will be moderating this year’s Immersed Futurists Panel. The Futurists Panel is one of the summit’s highlights every year and features the market’s top influencers and innovators.

Mr. Okane’s longform journalism has been showcased by Harvard’s Nieman Storyboard and Great Canadian Longform. His breaking-news writing has been shortlisted for a Canadian Online Publishing Award, and in 2018 he was part of the Globe team that won the Society of American Business Editors and Writers’ Best in Business Canada Award for breaking news.

Immersed takes place November 8-9, 2018 at the Ontario Science Centre. It is sponsored in part by Intel (Platinum) and Advanced Mico Devices (Silver). We are still welcoming the right speakers, and we will begin announcing exhibitors shortly. Interested companies are encouraged to contact us as soon as possible.
