ITA Announces the Addition of Seven Industry Leading New Members

San Francisco, CA. (April 29, 2014) – The Immersive Technology Alliance (The ITA) is the official voice and standards body for new immersive technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality, stereoscopic 3D, gesture tech, and everything in-between. The association is pleased to welcome seven new members to its respectable roster.

David Traub is Principal of Epiphany Film Fund, and was personally responsible for producing the on-display graphics work in the Lawnmower Man; the 1993 science fiction movie that introduced VR to the global audience.

“We produced Lawnmower Man during an era of $10,000 HMDs, but envisioned a time where affordable technologies enabled global access to positive and socially valuable immersive computing and entertainment. That time is NOW, and we are proud to join The ITA to help usher in this new era,” said David Traub.

Jespionage Entertainment develops SnowDrift, the thrilling VR skiing game for devices like The Oculus Rift. They are also a partner developer for VR Chat, one of the most popular VR social experiences available today.

“It’s my pleasure to join an alliance with such distinguished members all focused on making Immersive Technology part of all our lives,” said Jesse Joudrey, CEO of Jespionage Entertainment.

NextGen Interactions’ Dr. Jason Jerald’s most recent work includes developing a VR game that was shown with the Virtuix Omni on ABC’s Shark Tank, development with Valve Software on porting Left4Dead2 to a VR system that was featured in the New York Times, consulting for Oculus VR, and serious game development with Sixense Entertainment.

“Immersive technologies like VR covers a broad range of verticals and challenges that are too numerous for a single company to do everything. The ITA provides the opportunity for members to collaborate, learn, and benefit from each other in an open forum that welcomes all representatives with equal validity, ” said Dr. Jerald, President of NextGen Interactions.

Other new members include: True Player Gear; Rabbx; Fallen Planet Studios and Firsthand Technology. First meeting presentations by Avegant, Technical Illusions, YEI Technology and more are available at

Affordable ITA membership packages are readily available for technology makers, content producers, and academic institutions. Special discounts are also available for formative companies to maximize their chances for growth and success.

“We had a wonderful launch in March, we continue to attract some of our industry’s leading minds, and it’s just good to be part of an effort that is working towards a big and immersive picture for all”, said Neil Schneider, Executive Director of The ITA and FBIT’s Manager of Immersive Technology Services at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.

With nearly thirty prestigious immersive technology members now on record, the alliance is uniquely positioned to help qualified VR and immersive technology conferences and meet-ups to succeed with helpful marketing, content development, and guidance.

“Being a media sponsor for the VR Meetup at GDC was a good first step. We are excited about the prospect of helping promote and develop similar events around the world for the purposes of driving the growth of immersive technology. Our biggest qualifier is that each event supports a diverse industry and the ideals of The ITA’s open and transparent mandate,” said Schneider.
