What is Future Computing?
Given recent and impending advances in compute technology, applications, and content, we are preparing for a new continuum of interrelated solutions. These solutions deliver enhanced productivity for business, add to and improve the effective use cases for consumers, and deliver paradigm shifts in how we live out our day to day lives. This new continuum is based on a growing ecosystem that includes compute performance and platforms, immersive technology, and innovative content and applications. The practice of preparing and developing this ecosystem is called future computing.
What is the Client-to-Cloud Revolution?
The client-to-cloud ecosystem is going through a revolution where cloud and independent platforms like PC, console, mobile, and other devices are developing new types of collaboration in distribution, and software and content execution. With the advent of 5G and other connectivity breakthroughs, devices of all sizes and abilities are expected to be enabled beyond the processing power they are built with.
- Increased client and consumer market size potential.
- More computing resources for content and application makers to fulfill their artistic and inventive ambitions.
- Stronger offerings across all platforms.
- New types of applications that were previously impractical.
The 2019 IFC Summit’s focus is the client-to-cloud revolution through the eyes of technology, and the market segments of entertainment, education, business, and healthcare.

Where is IFCS Being Hosted?
IFCS will be hosted in the Grand Hall of the Computer History Museum on November 5-6, 2019. What better way to celebrate future computing than to be in the presence of innovations past?
The Computer History Museum is a nonprofit organization with a four-decade history as the world’s leading institution exploring the history of computing and its ongoing impact on society. The Museum is dedicated to the preservation and celebration of computer history and is home to the largest international collection of computing artifacts in the world, encompassing computer hardware, software, documentation, ephemera, photographs, oral histories, and moving images.
The museum is ideally located in the silicon valley world and is in earshot of mulitple hotels and amenities for out of town guests.
The Immersed Conference Heritage
IFCS was originally founded as Immersed in 2014. It began as the first major immersive technology event in Canada and has been held annually through 2018 in Toronto. Standard conference features included market-leading speakers and sponsors, regular national and international media coverage, unique business development opportunities, and a very select high-value audience.
Beginning in 2018, Immersed transitioned to a future computing event to better reflect the mandate of The International Future Computing Association and the growing needs of this interdependent ecosystem. With the success of this new format, it was clear that TIFCA’s flagship event deserved a Silicon Valley presence. Immersed has since been renamed to The International Future Computing Summit, and will be hosting its inaugural West Coast edition at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California, this coming November, 2019.
